SYNOPSIS

When we usually hear the words "climate change," we usually think of the classic WWF commercials with the polar bears on a single piece of ice or the trend "Skip the Straw and Save the Turtles." Or stories about the giant wildfires in Paradise, California and the monstrous hurricanes replacing the smooth jazz of New Orleans, Louisiana with pounding rain. In general, climate change doesn't even come close to America's Midwest. So why should we care? This question troubled Emily Johnson. If climate change is a global issue, shouldn't her own area be effected as well? So, Johnson went on a year-long journey to answer this. From talking with a Wisconsin local farmer to a retired fisheries biologist, she learns about the troubles our Heartland is facing and it's future from the consequences of burning fossil fuels.
